Purple Review

The Company

Purple was founded in 1989 by two brothers who specialized in advanced aerospace materials and manufacturing design and started out as a wheelchair company. Over time, they evolved to creating cushioning, which is how they developed their patented Hyper-Elastic Polymer and after a lot of success went on to apply their patents to full mattresses, something that had never been achieved before at affordable pricing. Through many years of experience and a scientific approach they have amassed a product catalogue geared at comfort that includes mattresses, pillows, sheets, and bedframes among others, making them a one-stop-shop for comfort.

What's unique

Purple set out to engineer a new kind of bed that can provide soft comfort alongside serious support and found the answer in their Smart Comfort Grid. The mattress adjusts to your shape and cradles pressure points such as shoulders or hips to relieve pain. The design also isolates motion transfer, so for all you light sleepers this could be just what your relationship needed. In their quest to provide maximum comfort without compromising support, the company have launched the new Purple Mattress, which allows customers to customize their desired softness and sleep experience with 3 different levels. It also features responsive support coils for even more advanced motion isolation.

The Mattress

The new purple mattress is made up of 3 main segments. The first is their stretch cover made of circular knit to allow flexibility with any level of the Smart Comfort Grid you choose as well as maximum air flow and breathability to ensure  a cool night’s sleep. The next segment is the Smart Comfort Grid which comes in your choice of 2, 3, or 4-inch thickness. The thicker the Smart Comfort Grid, the softer the mattress will feel. The Grid aligns your spine correctly no matter the position you sleep in, allows airflow for cool sleep, and is made from their patented Hyper-Elastic Polymer. The final segment is the base layers, which in the new mattress includes 7.5-inch coils individually wrapped in custom fabric to reduce friction and wrapped in two layers of ultra-durable polyurethane foam.
